BSC Episode 7 – 6.6.2026 – Saturday Mornings 8am to 10am SWR 99.9 FM

💛 Thank a First Responder.

This week’s Switch Off and Connect segment focused on the connection between community wellbeing and emergency preparedness.

Piper’s challenge to listeners was simple but powerful:

Thank a first responder.

Not just on Thank a First Responder Day, but whenever you have the opportunity.

Whether it’s a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, SES volunteer or another emergency services worker, taking a moment to say thank you can have a lasting impact.

As Piper noted during the program, a simple acknowledgement could influence how a first responder carries themselves into their next shift, their next rescue or their next interaction with someone in need.

We also encouraged listeners to:

  • Check in on someone they haven’t spoken to recently
  • Spend time connecting face-to-face
  • Reach out to a neighbour, particularly someone who may be vulnerable or living alone
  • Recognise the people who quietly support our communities every day

Strong communities are built through everyday acts of connection.
